Obvious woman says: NFC = Not Football Conference, and West is the weakest division. It's like a lot of classes; it's not always the smartest people that get the highest grades, but the ones that are best able to game the system.

(Granted, I prefer to watch un-perfect teams as long as they have some strong suits; the weak spots make for a much more exciting game... same reason I'd much rather watch NCAA than pro basketball)

Could also lay it on Deon Grant's dropped interception, but that's just being picky.

I just asked my brother, because he's watched a million more games this season than I have. He shook his head and walked away.

Ah, but that only really explains how they got into the playoffs, not how they beat three good teams convincingly.

I think they've been storing these cardinals in an undisclosed location, and brought them out for the playoffs. It might be the best kept secret ever.

hmmm.... Falcons, Panthers, Eagles....

I'd say Larry Fitzgerald knew it might be his only chance and went balls-out. Not just in receiving but in keeping the team motivated -- and having played together so long, they already have that chemistry down. Edgerrin James for sure had something to prove, and he pulled out everything he could.

I don't feel like this is a "whoa, the Giants are really good!" type situation. I think that aside from Hightower, the Cardinals are basically the same team they were last year, only healthier (esp on defense). Yes, they won extremely solidly, but they did it with intense energy rather than superior fundamentals, by forcing turnovers, by trusting their kicker (which is revealing -- they were scrapping together every possible point and not taking anything for granted).

I <3 football.
