The challenge is that is becomes a slippery slope of expectations very quickly, especially globally, and that while I can catch Barack Obama, i can't catch The Barak Obama or Barak H. Obama or etc etc etc. If people are creative, they'll find a way around quickly.
As for name conflicts, for URLs, you'd get John-Smith-10 or you could use your (unique) username. Reply to comment

Not sure what the best way to prevent this would be, (maybe flag certain names on sign up as suspicious). Reply to comment
